Enable Multiple Branching (Looping)

Only use this option if you have a multiple choice, multiple answer question and would like to loop on the following questions.

This options allow you to dynamically "loop" through a set of questions based on responses to a multiple choice question. This option works only and effectively with "select K of N" multiple choice question (check-boxes).

On a multiple choice question (select K of N) where K > 1 (i.e. check-box) you can have multiple choices having a target branch to the same question. When the respondent takes the survey and he chooses more than 1 option, the Engine will loop through the same question for every choice.

It is advised that this feature be used in combination with the Piping Feature. Use the variable ${piping_text} to dynamically replace the content of the target question with substitution from the source answer choice.

How does looping affect the data-set?

When Looping is enabled for a survey, multiple rows of data are produced for the same questions (as the respondent loops through the same question).

Can you give me an example for this?

Consider the following survey:

Q1. Please select the restaurants you have ordered pizzas from before:

Pizza Hut Dominos Papa John's Other

Q2. How would you rate pizza from ${piping_text}

    Excellent Good Average Poor

In this case you would like to ask Q2 for all the options selected in Q1. Also, you would like ${piping_text} replaced by the appropriate restaurent name (i.e. Pizza Hut or Dominos etc)

You can use the Multiple Branching option to set this type of survey up. First, click the Branch link for Q1 (from above example).

In the popup window check the Enable Multiple Branching. Select Q2 as the Jump To question for each of the options.

Enter the appropriate text for each option in the Piping Text column. This is the text that will be displayed instead of the ${piping_text} in Q2.

Be sure to click the Update Branching Information button after you are done.

Insert a Page Break after the last question within the loop to indicate the end of the loop.

How can I view the Reports for the looped data?

You can setup Grouping for each loop and run the Reports to view the Results.
