Hello,

This survey is a component of my Thesis for the Savannah College of Art and Design. I am setting out to create an animator-friendly teaching tool for rigging and am asking for your input to better my project.

I am currently _____

A student

A student with experience in the industry

A professional working in the industry

A professor of animation and/or rigging

How much knowledge or rigging would you say you had?

Absolutely none – I know how to use a rig but not how it works.

Some – I know the basic workings of a rig but couldn't recreate any of it myself

Intermediate – I can fix problems that come up and dig through the outliner with some understanding

Advanced – I can build my own rig and reverse engineer other rigs

Do you think knowing basic rigging knowledge can improve your animation?

As an animator, what frustrations do you face with rigs?

If you were to approach a rigger with a question/task, would be able to describe what you needed?

Would you benefit from being able to fix basic rigging problems on your own rather than send the rig back to your rigger?

Do you experiment, play with, or try to break a new rig when you get it? Have you edited a rig before?

Do you prefer to try and figure the rig out yourself or do you look at attached documentation?

If there was an available, animator-friendly teaching tool for rigging, what would you want to be included in it? What would be most helpful for you? What would you expect to learn/get out of it?

Thank you so much for your participation!
