Hello:
You are selected to participate in a psychology research project for the purpose of Yixuan's AP Statistics Paper.
Using factual information of uncertain truth value as the stimulus material,
previous investigators have found that repeated statements are rated more valid than non-repeated statements. The purpose of the project is to see if this effect would also occur for opinion statements and for statements initially rated either true or false.
It is thus imperative, as the pilot subjects, to answer these questions as truthfully as possible, and to the best of your knowledge.
In this survey, approximately 24 people will be asked to complete a survey that lists a set of opinionated statements. You will be asked to rate these statements on three sets of scales from 1 to 7, which are:
Perceived Validity
Judged Level of Controversy
Personal Feeling towards the Statement
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for us to learn your opinions.
Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. If you have questions at any time about the survey or the procedures, you may contact Yixuan.

1 = definitely false (I completely disagree)
2 = probably false (I strongly disagree)
3 = likely false (I kinda disagree)
4 = no opinion on this matter
5 = likely true (I kinda agree)
6 = probably true (I strongly agree)
7 = definitely true (I completely agree)
Judged Level of Controversy
1 = dude, really? common knowledge
2 = It's not controversial
3 = I don't feel it's that controversial
4 = I don't know
5 = It might be a bit controversial
6 = It is controversial
7 = I think that this issue is extremely controversial
Personal Feeling towards the Statement
1 = absolutely don't care about this issue
2 = it does not concern me or people that I know
3 = it might concern people that I know
4 = I don't know
5 = It is of concern to people that I know
6 = I'm somewhat concerned about it, but not really
7 = This issue is very personal and I am very concerned with it.
