Many High street retailers do not pay workers in their factories a living wage:

A living wage allows workers to live with dignity. It should be enough to cover workers’ and their dependents’ basic needs for nutritious food and clean water, healthcare, education, shelter, fuel, clothes and transport, as well as providing for some discretionary income. It should be based on a standard working week, before overtime, and apply after any deductions. (Action Aid,2010)

Research shows that if one high street retailer paid an extra 2 Pence on £4 T-shirt, workers would receive a living wage- would you be prepared to pay a small percentage extra to ensure these workers were being paid fairly?

If you found out one of your favourite high street retailers were using factories that beat their workers, forced excessive overtime and denied bathroom breaks, would you still buy their clothes?
