The RN evaluation for Peggy Knight is being conducted online this year and we are looking for your participation in this important process. 4. Orients new SDA physicians to the operation of the pain service; including peripheral nerve catheters, epidural/intrathecal opioid placement, review of appropriate order sets, and notification of pain mailbox.
5. Provides SDA physician follow-up pertaining to epidural infusion/intrathecal narcotics effectiveness, side effects, or complications.
6. Informs the Post Anesthesia Nurse of any potential medical or legal issues.
7. Interfaces with COPIC in pain injection patients who develop complications.
8. Provides orientation and written manual to SDA physicians joining the pain team.
9. Maintains accurate daily pain log and billing charges.
10. Interfaces with hospital/surgery center schedulers, pre-op and PACU personnel, and nursing staff and physicians for patient continuity of care.
11. Manages day-to-day operations of the Surgical Pain Service.
12. Rounds hospital patients daily with SPS physician or independently when necessary.
13. Fields calls for SPS from SDA office and hospitals
 
Clinical Skills/Knowledge (25%)

5. Receives pain injection patients from referring physicians with all pertinent MRI, x-ray reports, and physician notes.
6. Acquires current medication and allergy history from chronic pain patient, provides thorough explanation of procedure(s), pertinent instructions, and schedules patients (with appropriate scheduling department).
7. Coordinates with Pain Administrative Assistant for required insurance authorization.
8. Places follow-up phone calls 5-7 days post procedure to ascertain benefits and/or adverse reactions. Reschedules appointment as needed.
9. Adheres to HIPAA policies.
10. Remains current and proficient with pain theories and treatments.
