Hello:
In an on-going investigation of Gated Community developments in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, the researcher has documented over 130-Gated Communities in 2013, ranging in size from a 10 homes to over 600 homes in one community. Gated communities are housing developments on private roads that are closed to general traffic by a gate and some kind of security measure across the primary access. Fences and or walls and security measures limit public access to these developments. These communities limit the services and amenities inside to the community residents only. Gated Communities have become a significant phenomenon in Khobar, Saudi Arabia; Developers, consumers, and local governments all have interests in promoting private Gated Communities.
