In this survey, all ASG technicians will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about their general skills.  It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your participation in this request is mandatory.  Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this questionaire will be reported to Sean in the aggregate of area's where we need to increase training (Both through manufacturers and in-house). Your information will be coded and shared with the office in order to effectively dispatch installation and service work.  Thank you very much for your time and support. Please start with the survey now by clicking on the Next button below.

How would you rate your technical capability and general understanding of computers and how we use them in order to setup and service the security equipment we sell.  Note, All technicians at ASG should have a laptop, smart phone and access to company email and DESCO.   It is expected that everyone knows how to access a manufacturers website and know how to google or retrieve manufacturers documentation that is freely accessible over the internet.

I need training.   26% of the adult population can not use a computer at all.

(Level 0) A Simplistic understanding computer user knows how to log on to a computer (locally and on a domain if the computer is already setup), can start and stop programs, knows how to use a mouse and keyboard for inputing data, and can compose an email and print if a printer has already been configured for use.  This user cannot setup his own computer at home and does not understand the differences between operating systems.

(Level 1) With an Basic understanding computer user can navigate almost all end user programs if already installed, perform basic setup changes such as installing a program (if provided with detailed step by step instructions).  Knows how to copy & paste data, knows how to right/left click and double click a mouse and knows how to search for and forward an email that was sent several months ago. This user could answer what OS he is running and may need help in connecting a device to his wireless access point at home.

(Level 2) With an Intermediate understanding computer user can navigate almost all computer programs, perform basic program setup such as adding a printer or on a DHCP network (if already provided) and can start and stop services associated with specific programs (if directed).   At this level of understanding, this person could take direction from a manufacturers technical support expert and execute without being told how to use a compu ter.   This person can setup a home network and can easily connect wired and wireless devices most of the time without assistance if he has access to technical documentation.  (Only about 10% of the general adult population can do this).

(Level 3) An Accomplished understanding of computers would allow you to setup a basic LAN and WLAN network, interconnecting several computers, printers and accessory devices.    This user understands and knows how to configure Server/Client and basic SQL setups.  This user could also identify and resolve addressing conflicts on Class A, B or C networks.  Understands sub-netting and basic routing.   This user can correct most problems without outside assistance provided they have access to technical documentation.  (Less than 1% of the adult population can do this).
