Vacations:

We are evaluating the possibility of adding one vacation slot per week, and would like to make a final decision prior to the 2009 Vacation Lottery. Based on our current level of manpower, it has not yet been determined whether or not we would need to hire an additional FTE to accommodate an additional vacation day.

Do you support the addition of one vacation slot per week, bringing the total to 15 openings each day?

Yes

No

Would you support the addition of a vacation day if it meant that an additional FTE had to be hired, at an approximate annual cost of $7,000 per physician?

Yes

No

4th Call Position:

It has been suggested that due to our current volume of cases at night at our core facilities (SMC, PMH, LHP, SKY) and PAH (Parker), we possibly need a 4th call position to provide adequate after-hours coverage and facilitate the relief of the AICs and 2030s. This position could be scheduled as an 1800 or a 2030, and would include a post call day off.

For the weekends, the 4th Call position would work 7A - 7P on Saturday, 5th Call on Sunday 7A -7P, and Regular on Monday (priority to be determined later). Our current system of a volunteer 4th and 5th call would be evaluated to determine if the additional coverage is needed. If needed, this could be moved to a volunteer 5th/ 6th call; if not needed, this could be eliminated.

Do you support the implementation of a 4th Call position as described above?

Yes
