You are invited to participate in Research Project survey [Enhancing Leadership through the Corporate Online Communities]. In this survey, approximately [50] people will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about Online Learning and Training. It will take approximately [30] minutes to complete the questionnaire.

"Why is leadership and soft skills training so important?"
Leadership and soft skills training is necessary to enhancing the skills sets of employees in nearly every sector and industry today. This type of training must be accomplished while maintaining high levels of productivity and with reduced training budgets within the organization. Identifying the need for leadership training is quite easy; however the forum in which this training takes place is usually in a conference room or in a classroom with active (or inactive) participants who were “required” to attend. The time necessary is spent in the classroom and is one of the pitfalls in the face-to-face mode of training.
The belief that leadership and soft skills training can only occur in a lecture hall or a classroom is antiquated. By blending the learning environments to include simulations, scenarios and case studies, learning online can be accomplished effectively and at a lesser cost to the organization. “Classroom teaching is often the centerpiece of leadership training, but in recent years there has been a growing recognition of the value that can be derived from technology-based learning as an element of leadership development” (Softskills.com, 2007). Using the proper resources and mediums available, employers can give the employees the tools and right skills they need, providing “one-stop” online leadership training. As Hall (1999) states, “training is a prerequisite for proficiency”.
This research project proposal will address the need to create on-target, comprehensive, leadership training in an online environment within an organization; an environment outside the typical face-to-face classroom. In addition, three major areas will be addressed through the literature review and will be used in support of this project. These areas are; leadership and soft skills training, technology/online usage, and course development.

This research project proposal will also identify the problem, the demand, and the need for online leadership and soft skills through interview, discovery and research. Project findings and recommendations will be supported by findings and research analysis.
