Informed Consent Form for Creativity Gatekeepers Study
You are being asked to participate in a student research project conducted by Ernest Ng in the School of Behavior and Organizational Sciences, Claremont Graduate University (CGU). You are being asked because your judgments in art contribute to the acceptance of artwork by the art community. Participation: Participants must be over the age of 18 and understand English. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire. In this questionnaire, you will be asked questions about your judgments on several contemporary art pieces. I expect participation to take between 15 to 30 minutes of your time. Risks & Benefits: The potential risks associated with this study are mild frustration brought out by viewing less than quality artwork. However, all responses are confidential and voluntary. We expect this project will increase the understanding of creativity and increase the level of cultural competency in academics and other services you might use. In better understanding how culture works, we understand ourselves better, as well. Voluntary Participation: Please understand that participation is completely voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will in no way affect your current or future relationship with CGU or its faculty, students, or staff. You have the right to withdraw from the research at any time without penalty. You have the right to refuse to answer any question(s) for any reason. Confidentiality: Your individual privacy is of utmost importance to us and it will be maintained in all publications or presentations resulting from this study. The surveys will not have any identifying marks that could connect your participation to specific answers.
If you have any questions or would like additional information about this research please contact me at [email protected] (Principal Investigator) or Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi at [email protected] (Research Advisor). This Board is responsible for ensuring the protection of research participants. You may also contact ORSP at (909) 607-9406 with any questions.
