Assume that your annual income at your regular job is $20,000 and your income tax rate is 15%. In addition to this income, you were able to make $4000 cash working on the weekends for your family. You do not receive a 1099 for your work; therefore the IRS does not have record of this income. According to the IRS, this would be considered reportable income, and should be included on your tax return.

The federal government is concerned that some taxpayers claim too many deductions and do not report all of their income when filing their tax returns.

However, if taxpayers like you comply by reporting all your taxable income, then you could gain these advantages:

1. IRS auditors are less likely to audit you.

2. No fines and penalties will be imposed on you.

3. No jail sentences or criminal convictions will be imposed on you.

Question:

Would you include all $4000 of your cash income on your tax return?
