1.Hello: You are invited to participate in our survey concerning transfer students. The intent of this survey is to understand the experiences of students who have transferred from one university to another, from one school within a university to another, or from a community college to a university.
The following questions will help understand not only the types of experiences the students have at the institutions they attend, but the types of behaviors they exhibit when interacting with each institution and the people involved at the institution.
Please read each item carefully. For each question there should be a space for a response. Most responses will require either a check of a box or fill in. In addition, some questions require a short written response.
In this survey, approximately 200 people will be asked questions about the transfer process. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point. It is very important for us to learn your opinions.
Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. If an unexpected breach of confidentiality occurs your current or future status as a student at GWU will in no way be effected by your participation in this study.

Did you meet with a career counselor to discuss your future career plans? Have you taken any personality tests? Do you have an education plan and major? Has your major changed since you began your college education? Does your career plan match your educational objectives? Did you attend a university orientation? Were you a transfer from another institution? Were you assisted in the transfer process? If you are a transfer from another institution, did you have many choices of institutions to which you could transfer? Do you plan to transfer again? I attended 90% of the class sessions for my courses this year. 17.How much time do you study per week? How do you study? If so, how much? If no, move to the next question.
The following statements require a response related to your activity level in your courses.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Are you involved in outside-of-class experiences at your university? Have you attended dances, music performances, sporting or intramural events, concerts, recitals, or other organized student activities? Do you ever feel as though you were treated unfairly or with disregard? I was always treated fairly and with positive regard. As it relates to question 36, was there a particular person that affected your experience?
Did any process or system at your university act as an impediment to your success? If there were other resources that should be made available to assist in completing your degree or program, what would those be? Were you ever set up with a peer mentor or tutor? Did you ever serve as a peer mentor or tutor for another person? Did you ever seek the assistance of the tutoring or learning assistance center? In general, how successful has your college experience been for you?
Managing Your Environment
How do manage your stress? Would you say that there were any areas, disciplines, or persons that you avoided dealing with? 49.Which of these behaviors have you exhibited to deal with stressful situations? (Check as many as apply)
Post-College Expectations
Have you developed a career life-goal plan with an academic advisor or career counselor? When you graduate from college, what do you expect to do? Outside of your current work, have you thought about how you will get a job in your chosen field? What is your current year in school? How many credits have you earned? Are all of your education related expenses covered by your combined assistance options listed in Q57? How many hours per week do you work? What is your gender? How did you make the decision to attend this institution? 63.What is the highest level of your parent’s education? (Please check the appropriate level for each parent). What is your ethnic background? What was your High School GPA? Did you take any high school advanced placement courses? Did you take any college entrance exams or tests? Did you take one or more high school math class that were at the level of Algebra 2 or Trigonometry? Is there something additional you would like to add? Or something we did not ask?
