Dear (friend/associate/employee) of Cape Lookout National Seashore,

The National Park Service is currently working with Texas A&M University to develop a Storm Recovery Plan for Cape Lookout National Seashore (CALO). This plan will work, together with the park’s Hurricane Evacuation Plan, to ensure that the most appropriate measures are undertaken to protect human life, vital park resources and ongoing park operations in the event of a catastrophic storm.

Purpose of Survey

Integral to the creation of the plan will be the setting of resource priorities that will be used to guide recommendations for recovery efforts. These priorities, set by the degree to which park employees, volunteers and contractors value particular resources in the park will be combined with park operations and storm characteristics data to create protocols and checklists for Incident Management Teams (IMTs) that are dispatched to assist in recovery operations. For this survey, a park resource is any individual physical resource contained within the park. These resources could include the lighthouse, docks, park headquarters, the Shackleford horses, wells or septic systems, etc.

Directions

Below you will be asked to list your own opinion of up to ten resources in the park that you feel are the most important. After listing these resources, you will be asked to rate your opinion of each resource with respect to five dimensions on a scale of 0 to 10. Please be as specific as possible.

It will take approximately [Approximate Time] minutes to complete the questionnaire.
