The purpose of this study is to investigate and document the experiences, behavior, and attitudes held by players of table-top role-playing games, such as Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire the Masquerade, etc. Specifically I am interested in who plays these games, as well as their experiences in games, their attitudes about games, the role these games have in their lives, and the reasons for their continued interest and involvement in role-playing games. As a clinical psychology student and gamer myself I am very interested in these issues.
This survey is also one part of a larger study of the experiences of women in role-playing games. The larger study will also include examinations of media, interviews with gaming professionals and in-depth interviews with female players. Interested female participants in the survey may be contacted as participants for the in-depth interviews that will explore further their particular experiences in role-playing games.
