Attitudes of hiring managers towards recruiting older workers - is there a gender difference?
Age discrimination faced by employees in UK organisations has been a hot research topic for many years. Given the UK pension crisis and the age discrimination legislation coming into force on October 2006, organisations should be well-prepared to suit the needs of ageing workers. Therefore, the main purpose of our study is to devise a questionnaire which can investigate the hiring managers attitudes on recruiting older workers and whether they have different attitudes towards men and women. The hypothesis is that there is a difference in aspects of age discrimination faced by male and female older workers.
