Information Technology and the Employment Relationship
This study links aspects of the employment relationship to the effectiveness of informtation technology (IT). Specifically, I examine the extent to which three aspects of work and employment mediate the performance impact of an electronic health records (EHRs) system:
1. the degree to which technology strategy and employment strategy are integrated
2. the extent to which workers are involved or engaged in configuration, implementation, and optimization of the system
3. the extent to which workers are "kept whole" in the wake of technologically-reordered organizational or workflow changes.
