Polling opinions on the value of IT certifications
Problem Statement - The value and benefits of holding certification(s) in the field of information technology is unknown. It is unclear what impact certification has on employment of certificate holders. Additionally, certifications may or may not adequately reflect the talents and proficiencies of the bearers of those certifications. Though some certification authorities are beginning to design more simulation assessment than only recognition type questions (Wilde, 2000), it is not yet apparent if that has improved the quality of assessment in certification examinations. The reputation of training institutions is at risk if graduates present certifications and cannot perform the associated tasks.
