The purpose of our research project is to determine if a need exists for acupuncture services for addictions treatment in Spokane, Washington. A needs assessment will be conducted to determine professional opinion in the community.

Several research questions will be addressed. What are the underlying reasons for lack of acupuncture use? Is acupuncture cost-effective? Is acupuncture a feasible addition to traditional treatment? Do agencies that currently use acupuncture demonstrated improved outcomes for recidivism? With the help of local community professionals we will demonstrated that acupuncture is an effective treatment to combat common obstacles to substance addiction and revovery.
