North Down and Ards Institute of Further & Higher Education
Masters in Education
Within the past eleven years NDAI music department has grown from an original class of fifteen students to the largest music department in Northern Ireland with nearly 200 students. Since my initial involvement in 1993 as a part-time lecturer I have witnessed first hand a remarkable evolution. It has been an exciting ten years for me as a lecturer, technician and student.
So how did this happen and what can be learnt from that journey in relation to programme development within FE? I intend to investigate this growth and make a comparative study on music training within the province looking at trends in this creative area. How, with further FE changes around the corner, can we stimulate further expansion?
