Project Description

Evaluating the Diversity Training methods and strategies of training directors from clinical training programs in Psychology

Project Abstract

The participants for this study will be graduate program and internship training directors obtained from the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) members/subscribers lists. All training directors will be sent a survey via email inviting their participation in the current survey. The survey will ask participants to identify the various methods they currently use in their program to cultivate cultural competencies in their students/interns and the extent to which they perceive these methods to be effective. Secondly, the survey will ask participants to rank order (from most to least important) nine skills and then to separately rank order nine personal characteristics that may be considered useful for increased cultural competence. The surveys will be analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
