University of Michigan
Bridge Study
The current study examines the effectiveness of a first-year program designed to promote Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) among first-year college students, with a focus on underrepresented minority students. Students entering college at a large Midwestern university participated in a summer program designed to offer intensive academic preparation by emphasizing the importance of self-regulation. General findings indicate learning strategy and motivational variables were influenced over the course of the 7-week intervention program, and that SRL constructs were significantly related to participants first semester college GPA.
