Internal Communications and the ITD Strategic Plan
This paper will explore whether better understanding of a departments strategic goals will affect employees willingness to help the strategic plan be successful. Creative communication tools will be used to facilitate employees understanding of their departments strategic planning objectives. The context of this project will be confined to an information technology department (ITD) in a local government. The department is composed of 70+ employees with the majority of staff being technically and professionally trained.
Currently, the department is involved in strategic planning to create a more substantial customer-focused structure. Results of this change may include reviewing and reengineering work flows, reorganizing positions, and streamlining services to core functions.
