Project Description

My final thesis is about the impact of internal conflicts, within culturally diverse workgroups (teams), on their performance. The setting in which I am investigating this subject is that of international peace operations, in which people from military, civil, and relief organizations with different nationalities are co-operating in teams. Co-operation among such differences is likely to invoke conflicts, which can positively or negatively affect performance. Therefore, the purpose of my thesis is to increase workgroup performance in international peace operations by better management and control of these conflicts invoked by cultural differences. Because of the international focus of my education, the subject will be restricted to conflicts invoked by differences in national culture instead of organizational culture.
