Project Description

This survey is intended for directors and coordinators of multicultural mentoring programs. The survey is being conducted by the American Accounting Association's Faculty Diversity section in order to provide accounting educators with information about the characteristics of multicultural mentoring programs and how the achievements of these programs are assessed. Individual responses will not be released to anyone and will remain anonymous. Aggregate results will be reported to the American Accounting Association in monograph form.

Project Abstract

Creating an inclusive atmosphere is critical to all organizations that hope to increase cultural diversity. In prior studies, mentoring has been found to be a necessary element for retaining multicultural workers, and is also likely to be an important element in retaining multicultural students in an educational setting. This survey elicits responses from directors and coordinators of multicultural mentoring programs in questions varying from student participation to strengths and weaknesses of the program to methods of assessing the mentoring program. The results of this study will provide guidance to other organizations that wish to initiate or improve multicultural mentoring programs.
