Southern Connecticut State University
a survey to librarians who practice information literacy instruction at Connecticut state universities and community colleges regarding their use of the LISTSERV ILI-L in the design and implementation of their classes.
Information literacy is increasingly a core component of not only the missions of academic libraries but also the missions of higher education institutions at large. There is growing awareness of the importance of IL, but lack of consensus on what IL means in both theory and practice. To what degree do the many theories of information literacy as a concept affect the equally numerous discussions of information literacy instruction in practice. As a step toward understanding this, this study will examine how a specific information literacy-related LISTSERV, the American Libary Association-sponsored ILI-L influences the teaching practice of librarians involved in IL instruction.
