Make the bus system more user-friendly by taking actions such as building a permanent bus transfer station and improving routes and schedules. This includes making sure that current efforts to move the current transfer station off of downtown's main intersection at Salina and Fayette streets are completed as quickly as possible.

What's your level of support for the following draft agenda item to beautify Downtown Syracuse and to build on downtown's arts and cultural offerings:

Find strategies that would make other forms of public transportation feasible in Syracuse. We need "trolleys, subways and/or trains downtown," as one forum participant put it. This could play off of the proposed high-speed rail line for Upstate. If people from New York City are going to use this rail line to visit places like Syracuse, there needs to be good public transportation from the main rail stations.

Continue to create incentives to encourage people to use the parking garages, where most of the extra spaces are, and insist that garage owners clean up their properties and improve lighting and security.

Embrace the Onondaga Citizens League recommendations on the future of Interstate 81, which engineers say must be replaced or torn down. The effect of any decision on downtown should be the top priority of policymakers. Development opportunities downtown, ease of access to downtown and connectivity between downtown and other city neighborhoods must all be considered.
