What are dynamic comment boxes?
Dynamic Comment boxes are used when you want users to give you open-ended (Essay - Type) comments, if they choose a particular option (or a set of options.) This is most commonly used in the following scenario:
Do you attend a college?
- Yes (If this option is chose, a comment box should be presented to enter in the name of the college)
- No
Dynamic Comment Boxes can be enabled only for Radio Button type questions.
How do I enable Dynamic Comments on my survey?
- GoTo:
- Login » My Surveys » (Select Survey) » (Choose Question) » Add/Update Logic » Dynamic Text Comments

See example:
When I disable Dynamic Text Comments, I get this warning message "You've chosen to update/remove Dynamic Text/Comments, however the system has already collected data." -- What does that mean?
It means that the system has detected that you've tried to remove Dynamic Text Comment option from a question. However, the system also has prior collected data (while you were testing?) for that question. TO AVOID DATA CORRUPTION ISSUES, you need to delete all the data collected.
Information on how to delete data is listed below in the references section
Can I have the "Other" option ALSO with the Dynamic Comment Option?
Yes. The two of them are independent.
Can I have more than one option to trigger the dynamic comment?
Yes. For each of the items make sure you choose the dynamic comment option where you want to trigger it.
I have a matrix question, can I use the dynamic comment option?
Yes. You can have dynamic comments for Matrix (Radio) (Likert Scale) items.
Can I use branching/quota control etc. all the other logic functions along with the Dynamic Text Option?
Yes.
Can I enable Dynamic Comments on a Multi-Select (Choose all that apply) question type or a Matrix question with checkboxes?
No - We do not support dynamic comments with multiple choice (choose all that apply) question type. If you need to have comment boxes on multiple-selection logic, please use the branching tool to branch to a comment question.
Enabling Dynamic Comments will introduce another column in the Export File. This column will store the open-ended text data.
Please do not change the question type (Radio Button->Checkbox) after enabling dynamic comments on your question. This is not supported and will result in data inconsistency.
