CX - Adding Business Units

A Business Unit is your business entity that you map into the system. A Child Unit is a branch that is added under a main Business Unit. There can be a third level where you can map your business entities store wise in a particular city. For example: McDonald US, will be the main business unit and various branches across US will be child Business Units.

How do you add a Business Unit?

There are three ways to add Business Unit. To add a Business Unit, you can:

  1. Add a Business Units from Add Child
  2. Import Business Units Manually
  3. Import Business Units from Excel Sheet

How do you add a Business Unit from the Add Child option?

To add a Business Unit from Add Child option, go to: Login >> CX >> Business Data >> Business Units >> Add Child

  • Click on Business Units
  • Select Add Child to the specified Business Unit and enter the details below:

    • Business Unit Code
    • Location
    • Address Line2
    • City
    • Zip Code
    • State
    • Country
    • Supervisor Email Address
  • Click Save Changes

How do you Add Multiple Business Units?

To Add Multiple Business Units, we have 2 options:

  • Manual Import
  • Excel Import
  • Survey Software Help Image
  • Manual Import:
  • Login >> CX >> Business Data >> Business Unit >> Manual Import
  • Enter the details as listed.
  • Click on Import Business Unit

  • Excel Import:
  • Login >> CX >> Business Data >> Business Unit >> Excel Import
  • Upload an excel sheet in the format mentioned.
  • Click on Import

Can I have an example of adding Business Units?

Refer the below example:

  • Lets take the example of McD in US. Now, in US, McD is in three states: Boston and Atlanta, lets say, the McD in Boston is McDBoston and the one in Atlanta is McDAtlanta.
  • Here McD being the main business unit/ parent business unit will carry the code S1
    • McD in Boston i.e. McDBoston will have code S2, which is under S1.
    • Mcd in Atlanta i.e. McDAtlanta will have code S3, which is again under S1.
  • As per the import format, the business units will be:
    • Business Unit Name - McDBoston
    • Business Unit code - S2
    • Parent Business unit code - S1
    • Supervisor email address
    • Location - Boston
    • For McDAtlanta the unit code will be S3

  • Boston (S2) has McD in two cities Canon and Medway.
    • McdCanon in Canon will have code S4, which is under S2
    • McdMedway in Medway will have code S5, which is under S2
  • As per the import format, the business units will be:
    • Business Unit Name: McdCanon
    • Business Unit Code: S4
    • Parent Business Unit code: S2
    • Supervisor email address
    • Location - Canon
    • For Medway, business code will be S5
  • Atlanta (S3) has McD in two cities Dallas and Sunny Side.
    • McDDallas in Dallas will have code S6, which is under S3
    • McDSunny Side in Sunny Side will have code S7, which is again under S3
  • As per the import format, the business units will be:
    • Business Unit Name: McdDallas
    • Business Unit Code: S6
    • Parent Business Unit code: S3
    • Supervisor email address
    • Location - Dallas
    • For McDSunny Side, business code will be S7

Now, if McD has opened a restaurants in Chicago, we can add a child business unit under McD parent business unit. Click on Add Child next to the main business unit and add the details.

Chicago has two business units in Geneva and Round Lake

You can click on Add Child for Chicago to add the child business units
