Quickly and Effortlessly Collect Qualitative and Quantitative Information with QuestionPro!

Qualitative and quantitative data each have their own unique characteristics. What is qualitative data? Quantitative information Whatever your needs are, QuestionPro has the solutions you are looking for. Between choosing from over 100 different survey templates, typing up your own offline and importing it, or creating a brand new survey, you'll be sure to collect whatever sort of data you need.

Qualitative and Quantitative Information in QuestionPro

Qualitative. Well, if you think of qualitative data relating to "qualities," this type of information relates to adjectives. For example, if you were asked to describe your recent experience shopping at a major retail outlet, you might use the terms fast, convenient, friendly or pushy, rude and expensive. These are all examples of qualitative information. You can't add or subtract these answers.

Quantitavive is all about numbers. Just imagine quantitative information relating to a specific "quantity." For example, how tall you are, how much you weigh, and how long you stood in line for are all illustrations of quantitative information. In addition, just because data is in numerical form, doesn't necessarily mean it can be added. Take phone numbers and social security numbers - both examples of quantitative data, yet, like qualitative data, they can't be added or subtracted.

Qualitative vs Quantitative Information: Types of Questions

Customer and client satisfaction
Slider

These types of questions provide the respondent with an interactive method of answering. Depending on how you label the slider will yield either quantitative or qualitative information. You're able to label the slider with numbers or words, depending on the type of information needed.

New product and services
Ordering

A unique method of receiving qualitative feedback is by choosing ordering questions. This gives the respondent the ability to rank certain measures. For example, let's say you owned a business and wanted to have them rank customer service at the cash register. You could provide options for satisfied, neutral and unsatisfied.

Event planning
Open Ended Text

When you give your respondents an open text box to reply in, you're opening up an excellent channel of communication and feedback. This provides for detailed, specific qualitative information you normally wouldn't receive from a closed ended dichotomous question.

Website feedback
Multiple Choice

When there is a possibility of more than one selection, you can give the respondent the ability to choose multiple answers. The answer type and selection will determine if your data will be qualitative, quantitative or both.
