PURPOSE: The Alaska State Ultrasound Society is pleased to offer a $500.00 USD grant to a deserving sonography student who has been accepted, or currently enrolled in, an educational program in diagnostic medical sonography. We are offering this grant to students obtaining their education in diagnostic medical sonography from any accredited educational institution, however, a portion (or all) of their studies must be in the state of Alaska (ex. a clinical site).
RESTRICTIONS: There are no restrictions regarding how the recipient uses these funds. AKSUS recognizes that there are unique expenses related to clinical rotations during ultrasound education in Alaska which are not covered by other funding sources.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: The deadline to complete the grant application and submit the required documents is September 30, 2023. The selected individual will be announced during the AKSUS Saturday Seminar conference on October 14, 2023.
INSTRUCTIONS: To be considered for the AKSUS Sonography Student Grant, please fill out the requested information as completely and accurately as possible. A one page essay will be required to submit by email. It is your responsibility to ensure the application is completed fully — failure to follow instructions (including Essay Question Requirements), failure to fully complete the application, or failure to email all required documents will disqualify your application.
PROOF OF CURRENT ENROLLMENT from an educational program is required (unless the student is currently enrolled in the UAA DMS program. ). Acceptable documents include: 1) A letter of program acceptance or continued enrollment on college/school letterhead; signed and dated by an authorized representative or 2) A PDF of an official transcript from the institution showing enrollment in the next academic term in an acceptable program from an accredited educational institution.
NOTIFICATION: Notification regarding whether you have been awarded the grant will occur at
the AKSUS Saturday Seminar on October 14, 2023.
ELIGIBILITY: You must be a current individual AKSUS member at: 1) the time of application, award notification, and scholarship payment. If you are not currently a member, you can become a member on our website @ https://aksus.org . Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 3.0 grade-point average (or equivalent).
