We are currently recruiting for the Spring 2021 Training cohort (likely to begin in April). It may take some time for us to get back to you and we appreciate your patience.
Peer Mentors with Eating Disorders Nova Scotia play an essential role in supporting folks working on recovery. Our Peer Mentors bring their expertise working on their own recovery, managing relapses, and living their lives free from the confines of an eating disorder.
Mentors complete a 30-hour training program comprised of both on-demand and virtual components. Trained mentors have ongoing individual and group support, facilitated by the Program Coordinator, throughout their volunteer work with us.
Each mentor decides their level of involvement, which can range from 2 hours a month and up.
Peer Mentoring and Peer Support is not treatment, and peer supporters are not junior therapists, but rather leverage their own expertise to motivate, inspire, and encourage others.
