Connecting Quality Bands to Quality Academics

This study will be conducted in order to determine if there is any correlation between the quality of a school�s band program and the results of the school�s performance on state standardized testing scores. I plan to use a mixture of qualitative research in the form of opinions from teachers and administrators; as well as a quantitative approach by cross-referencing past history of test scores and band ratings. The expectation of the results is to prove that better bands are better for schools. There have been many studies done to prove that cognitive learning is enhanced by music and the �Mozart Effect�, but there has not been much research done on a group level.
