The construction industry in the UK has never been at the forefront of embracing technological change and has been slow in its uptake of eBusiness. It is my proposal that there is a competitive advantage to be gained by the early adopters of eBusiness but their needs to be considerable standardisations of protocols between interested parties. Those companies at the forefront of initiating and agreeing specific construction eBusiness protocols will accrue competitive advantage in the short-term. This early uptake will accentuate the short-term competitive advantage in that these companies will be in a much stronger position to adopt new technologies going forward.
