The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/features\/sliderscale.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">slider question<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is one of the graphical question types. It allows respondents to rate an option on a textual or numerical scale by dragging a slider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To offer the best experience to our users and respondents, we have enhanced the slider question with more options to customize the scale.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What&#8217;s new?<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change the default start position of the slider<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The interactive sliding scale starts from the left end by default for all the left-to-right languages. For the right-to-left languages, it starts from the right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the default slider might introduce order bias. Respondents tend to drag and drop the slider that is close to the starting point. It leads to biased data and insights that do not much value.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To negate the bias, you can configure the slider to start in the middle of the slider scale. You can set the slider for both n<\/span>umeric slider and text slider questions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For numeric sliders, you can set the slider start position from one of the below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Default<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Left<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Middle<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Right<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Custom<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The custom position allows you to set the slider to a custom number between the minimum and maximum value.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For text slider question, you can configure the slider to start from one of the below positions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Default<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Column name<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, in the below text slider question, you can set the slider to start from one of the columns &#8211; Poor, Below Average, Average, Good, Excellent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-109110\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Sliding-question-1.jpg\" alt=\"interactive slider question\" width=\"1000\" height=\"645\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here the default starting point of the slider is set on &#8216;Average&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-109117\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Sliding-question-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"859\" height=\"179\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Show\/Hide selection<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can now choose to show or hide the display of answers selected by the respondents. By default, it is off for both text and numeric slider questions. It leads to biased data and insights that cannot be trusted. By setting the slider to a neutral position, you can negate the bias.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get honest feedback from lazy respondents: Some respondents might be too lazy to drag the slider and drop to a polar opposite position. By configuring it to a middle spot, you are more likely to receive honest opinions from them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid nonresponse bias: This bias stems from the data when respondents do not answer the questions. The respondents might skip questions if they don&#8217;t feel like dragging the slider.
