It\u2019s not a dream \u2013 it\u2019s a function of a killer presentation formula that I learned from the book \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Say-It-Six-Ron-Hoff\/dp\/B002PJ4K6E\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1336703473&amp;sr=8-1\">Say it in Six<\/a>\u201d by Ron Hoff.\u00a0\u00a0 This book should be required reading for anyone as they step into a meeting whether it\u2019s face-to-face or virtual.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to share this formula with you because neither you nor anyone you work with should have to sit through another miserable waste of time every again!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Power Presentation Formula<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-11687\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/clock-medium_9433354556-450x288.jpg\" alt=\"clock medium_9433354556\" width=\"450\" height=\"288\" \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is a simple formula that you can use to structure your thoughts and your message in a way that will literally take your audience by the hand and lead them exactly where you want them to go, while informing and educating them about the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Tell it like it is &#8211; What&#8217;s the burning issue?<\/h2>\n<p>What\u2019s happening?\u00a0This is the first statement of the presentation \u2013 but it will probably be the last thing you actually write.\u00a0 Starting your presentation with an authentic statement about what\u2019s happening will get everyone on the same page.\u00a0 After you make your \u201cWhat\u2019s Happening\u201d statement, the little voice inside your audience\u2019s head should say something like \u201cWHAT?\u00a0 How can you say that?\u201d\u00a0 Your \u201cWhat\u2019s Happening\u201d statement should be no more than two or three sentences.<\/p>\n<h2>Overwhelm them with facts<\/h2>\n<p>How did we get here?\u00a0In this section of the outline, you get to prove your point.\u00a0 This is the section where you place all your data, charts, and graphs. Don\u2019t overwhelm your audience with numbers and tables.\u00a0 Make the title of each graph what you want your audience to be left with. Instead of \u201c2011 Sales By Region\u201d use \u201cSouthern Region Exceeds Sales Goals.&#8221; Your audience will thank you because they won\u2019t have to analyze the data themselves and you can move on with your presentation.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s your idea?<\/h2>\n<p>What will we do?\u00a0At this stage, the little voice inside your audience\u2019s head is begging for solutions.\u00a0 Now you have them where you want them.\u00a0 They are eager to hear your ideas.\u00a0 Don\u2019t let this opportunity go to waste.\u00a0 Take the time to present your idea in a tangible, visible way.\u00a0 Use props or demonstrations to engage your audience and get them living into the future of your idea in action.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Why is it good for the audience<\/h2>\n<p>What\u2019s the payoff?\u00a0You have a great idea, but why is it good for your audience? That\u2019s what they will want to know and you get to tell them.\u00a0 Be clear and descriptive about the benefits.\u00a0 Use lots of adjectives to describe how wonderful the future will be with your solution in place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Tell them what to do<\/h2>\n<p>How do we get started?\u00a0By the time you get to this stage of the outline, your audience will be excited and ready to do something.\u00a0 Tell your audience what you want them to do and make it easy for them to take action right away.\u00a0 If there is something to be signed, make sure that you have the forms, the pens, and anything else that\u2019s required.<\/p>\n<h2>Get the monkey off your back<\/h2>\n<p>Do you remember that old supervisory phrase \u201cGet the monkey off your back\u201d?\u00a0 Well, this outline will not only get the problem-solving monkey off your back, it will inspire your employees.\u00a0 Give this outline to your employees and encourage them to use it at meetings.\u00a0\u00a0 This outline will naturally force anyone using it to focus on a real problem, the data behind it, and the possible solutions.\u00a0 It takes the problem off of the manager\u2019s desk and puts it squarely in the hands of the people who are best qualified to see it and solve it.<\/p>\n<p>When I trained a client on this outline and had the team members develop a presentation as part of their final certification, the management team was blown away by the ideas and energy that came out of the process.<\/p>\n<p>Try this simple outline for yourself and see how productive and energizing your next meeting is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gotcha!
