Just a fraction of a second\u2019s eye contact yields a huge amount of information that you can \u2013 and do \u2013 use as you communicate with your interlocutor.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thinking about how this works, and why we\u2019ve evolved to do it, can pay big dividends.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Eye contact is a big part of any conversation<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And as you absorb the information \u2013 the feedback \u2013 you get from eye contact while having that conversation, you\u2019ll find that you make subtle course corrections in what you\u2019re saying and how you\u2019re saying it.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is a perfect, beautiful example of a <a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"Feedback\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Feedback\" rel=\"wikipedia\">feedback loop<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;What is it that makes this feedback loop so successful? &nbsp;In thinking about this, two things jump out at us. First, it\u2019s simple. (On its surface, anyway.)<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Your brain filters out nonessential information and focuses on certain vital cues which you\u2019ve learned to watch for. You\u2019re not overloaded with feedback. &nbsp;You\u2019re fully focused on the other person\u2019s eyes and what they\u2019re doing with them. What\u2019s even more interesting to consider is how this feedback system\u2019s simplicity and repetitiveness have allowed it to evolve to become so important to us.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What\u2019s evolving in your organization? <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/feedback-software\/customer-feedback-software.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Customer feedback<\/a> initiatives are like anything else in corporate life. If we\u2019re not careful, these programs can become bloated and ineffective.
