Without a doubt, you notice when the table has a little wobble that those legs are hitting the ground evenly. I\u2019d even wager that &#8211; in most cases &#8211; it is the ground that is uneven and not the table legs.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be very annoying and can make things a little precarious depending on what is on the table and the extent of the imbalanced legs. I\u2019ve seen more than one drink spilled due to such situations. Sometimes you\u2019re forced to solve for the imbalance.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might turn the table a little to find a level ground or break out your MacGyver skills and engineer a perfectly fitted wedge for that leg using a paper napkin. I have even just tried to cover it up using the weight on my elbow to hold the table in place.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where a four-legged table must have that level flooring, there is a certain beauty in a tripod that has only three legs.&nbsp; Geometrically speaking, on a flat plane, the 4-legged table needs to be balanced across six straight lines.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For a tripod, it is only three. However, as I mentioned above, it usually isn\u2019t the legs that are a problem, it is usually the fact that those legs are not on an even plane. When they aren\u2019t on an even plane, the tripod is much more adaptable. The legs can work independently and together for balance.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a reason that we use tripods for cameras.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Okay Ken, but what does this has to do with CX?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly, in business and customer experience, the metaphorical plane is rarely even. In fact, the plane is more like city streets cratered with potholes.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet, if you have a tripod, you can find a way to balance everything to work together, with each leg independently also doing its job. What are the three legs of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/cx\/why\/5-pillars.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer experience<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tripod?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>1. Customer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; this one you probably already expected. Having tools such as a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/cx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CX enterprise software<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and understanding all the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer experienc<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/customer-touchpoints\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">touchpoints<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is critical. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet, without the customer, the business is not relevant. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customers are the reason we define a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/cx\/why\/cx-strategy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer experience strategy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and map out the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/customer-journey-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer journey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer experience software platform<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may have some flashy features such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/cx\/closed-loop\/case-management.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer feedback loop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/features\/sentiment-analysis.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sentiment analysis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you must also keep in mind that your customer does not just exist within your metaphorical tripod. They are the balancing leg to your competitors as well. They could easily leave you for the bigger, better deal at any point and your tripod could fall.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>2. Employee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; probably another one in your mind that you \u2018already knew\u2019.&nbsp; We all recognize the importance of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/workforce\/employee-experience.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">employee experience<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on its own and also within the customer experience framework. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without employees &#8211; both frontline and back-of-office, you have no means to execute against your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/cx\/why\/journey-mapping.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customer journey map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if you are an automated solution, there are many individuals responsible for building, producing and distributing your product.&nbsp; Even if they are outsourced, they still are part of this leg of the tripod. In my view, this leg is often overlooked, even by individuals responsible for the well-being of the employee.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t make the employee experience a \u201conce a year\u201d activity, but rather an ongoing activity.&nbsp; If you have many employees, consider a&nbsp; <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/tools-to-help-you-analyze-social-media-chatter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social media analysis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enhance the data you collect as you\u2019ll hear more about culture online than you will from a survey.&nbsp; If you are a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/why-is-it-so-important-to-have-customer-experience-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B2B focused<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organization, your employees also represent your service offering to your customers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>3. Profit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; in the leg that seems like it contradicts the other two, profit is just as critical as the other two legs of the tripod. If you cannot profitably serve the customer, you will not have a business. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A key reason for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/why-invest-in-customer-experience-cx\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">financial linkage analysis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is to demonstrate that link, but I would have a concern with any company leader that does not already realize that these are connected with each other.
