Big bets are being made by heavy-hitting tech firms and venture capitalists, but nobody is sure who is going to lead the way in terms of products and technology that will break open the floodgates towards mainstream adoption. Will it be Apple, Sony, Google, Amazon, Samsung, Snapchat, Youtube, or some unknown player?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a recent article on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">VentureBeat<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0folks from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Akamai<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, GamesBeat, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Immersv<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ADVR<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, found four characteristics that made them hopeful for mainstream adoption of the AR &amp; VR world in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the niche of VR and AR users are small, the level of engagement is 10 times higher than standard mobile marketing. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The huge difference that there\u2019s one million active users, not 500 million. The monetization is higher in VR, because people are more engaged. The ads work better. Cross-promotion works better. There\u2019s just not enough people yet.\u201d- Mihir Shah, CEO of Immersv.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the 1 Million regular VR users, they want more seamless \u201cdiscovery\u201d experiences within the VR world.
