editor of Research Access<\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>By the time the\u00a0Festival of NewMR\u00a0reaches its tenth anniversary, the novelty of online-only conferences may have worn off.\u00a0 But it hasn\u2019t yet.<\/p>\n<p>Such online-only events are increasingly becoming part of the market research thought leadership scene, with entries in the past year from the\u00a0American Marketing Association (AMA)\u00a0and\u00a0Market Research Global Alliance (MRGA).<\/p>\n<p>While online-only conferences lack the appeal of traditional face-to-face interaction, they offer the advantage of allowing researchers who cannot travel to attend conferences the opportunity to participate, both as presenters and participants.\u00a0 Online conferences open up the conversation beyond the \u201cusual suspects\u201d who attend multiple research conferences each year.<\/p>\n<p>In year two of the Festival, last year\u2019s organizer, Ray Poynter, who recently accepted the position of Managing Director UK with Vision Critical, has been elevated to Festival Chair, while last year\u2019s deputy, Sue York, serves as this year\u2019s Festival Organizer.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event is more even more ambitious than last year\u2019s inaugural event.\u00a0 The conference has activities all week from October 31<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0through November 4<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The meat of the Festival is the so-called \u201cMain Stage,\u201d a twenty-three-hour marathon on Thursday, November 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 Other activities include a\u00a0Young Researcher Competition, a\u00a0Training Day, and anInsight Innovation Competition.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Main Stage is comprised of seven consecutive sessions, spaced at three-and-one-half hour intervals. \u00a0\u00a0A single registration is required for attendance at as many Main Stage sessions as desired.\u00a0 The presentations chosen for the Main Stage were selected by online vote.<\/p>\n<p>See below for the full November 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0Main Stage program.<\/p>\n<p>Poynter will be speaking to kick off Session 3 of the Main Stage at 7:30 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time on Thursday, November 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 His topic is \u201cNewMR, a View of the Next Two Years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NewMR previously used Ning as its website technology of choice, but this year they have switched to WordPress, which does not require users to register for membership.\u00a0 The Main Stage program is being delivered via GoToMeeting technology. \u00a0<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Principal sponsors of
