When determining if one data point is strongly associated with other results from a different question, then you run a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/correlation-analysis\/\">correlation analysis<\/a>. This is a bivariate analysis that measures the strength of association between two variables and the direction of the relationship. In terms of the strength of the relationship, the value of the correlation coefficient (rs) varies between+1 and -1. As the correlation coefficient value goes towards 0, the relationship between the two variables will be weaker.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The direction of the relationship is indicated by the sign of the coefficient. A positive + sign to +1 indicates a direct relationship and a negative \u2013 sign to -1 indicates an inverse relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With our latest update to the correlation analysis tool, you can now self-select and generate the correlation output for the required questions of your choosing. Strong correlations will automatically be highlighted based on the strength of the correlation found from the results. This will allow you to differentiate highly correlated cells and inversely correlated cells and provide quick insights.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>The setup<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to: <strong>My Surveys \u00bb Select Survey \u00bb Analytics<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on Correlation Analysis under the Analysis drop down<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1358\" height=\"848\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Setup-correlation-analysis.png\" alt=\"Setup correlation analysis\" class=\"wp-image-69554\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, select the specific questions to add in the row and columns on the left side. This will allow you to set up different questions and find strong or weaker correlations between them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1886\" height=\"959\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Select-questions-for-correlation-analysis.png\" alt=\"Select questions for correlation analysis\" class=\"wp-image-69555\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Setting thresholds<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you have selected your row and columns, you can dictate the threshold of strength for the correlation tool to highlight. The lowest is 0.5 and the highest is 0.99. The default is 0.65 but you can move it up or down as you wish. Set the threshold for high and inverse correlation by slides both scales.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Highlighting the results <\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The positive correlation highlights fall into three buckets: <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Values till 0.8 is highlighted in light green<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.8 to 0.9 is highlighted in medium green <\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.9 and above are highlights in a dark green<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The negative correlation highlights fall into three buckets: <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Values till 0.8 is highlighted in light red<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.8 to 0.9 is highlighted in medium red<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.9 and above are highlights in a dark red<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1888\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Highlight-Correlation-analysis-results.png\" alt=\"Highlight Correlation analysis results\" class=\"wp-image-69556\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep in mind that moving the threshold slider will change the highlighted results.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote>\n<p>Curious to learn about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/correlation-matrix\/\">correlation matrix<\/a>?
