It\u2019s not about free lunches\/snacks\/beer, secret santa gifts, bean bags or karaoke nights. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those things are nice. But they\u2019re simply artifacts. They aren\u2019t necessarily what fuels success in your organization. That\u2019s what culture is: stuff that reinforces and clarifies what\u2019s really important to driving success in your business.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond Foosball <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ve heard many one-liners from the Management gurus say things like, \u201cCulture eats strategy for breakfast\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on our 20+ years of experience working with Fortune 100 companies, what we believe is: Those clich\u00e9s are all true. They might be a bit exaggerated statements, but they are true. They are only meaningful, though, if they are more than just words&#8230;if they are rooted in actions, behaviors, and employee experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although a company might have a clear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/workforce-strategy\/\">workforce strategy<\/a> and plan for how they will attract and retain the best talent, their culture may end up incompatible with (or maybe even in conflict with) these plans. And in most cases, culture trumps plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make it worse, while companies are busy designing and building that \u201ccool\u201d place to work, the factors driving its success for the company change; and the culture doesn\u2019t. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"square-cta secondary-lined-cta\" href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/a\/showEntry.do?mode=workforce&amp;classID=1024&amp;sourceRef=blog-workforce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Create a free account<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workplace Culture is about&#8230;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Culture is about what is deeply <\/b><b><i>valued <\/i><\/b><strong>in the system<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong> <b>making sure what is valued is connected to what drives success for the enterprise<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is important: you can talk about your \u201cvalues\u201d all day long, but if those values aren\u2019t really practiced &#8211; &nbsp;if they aren\u2019t reinforced by what your stakeholders and constituents experience &#8211; then those values aren\u2019t truly \u201cvalued.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.questionpro.com\/blog\/work-culture-why-is-it-important\/\">Work culture<\/a> is comprised not just of the words behind those values, but also how those values are practiced in everyday life. It is ingrained in every action and behavior. It takes time, energy and intention to manage and maintain it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep the tenets by which your organization works and lives transparent so that your people experience what\u2019s truly valued day in and day out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s going to take more than a foosball table in your break room to make that happen.
