DESTRUCTIVE LEADERSHIP AND ITS MANAGEMENT IN THE QUANTITY SURVEYING PROFESSION

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am a BSc Honours Quantity Surveying student at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. To fulfil the requirements for my degree, I am to complete a research project based on a topic of my choice relating to the construction industry. My study is entitled: “Destructive leadership and its management in the quantity surveying profession”. The aim of the research is to investigate the prevalence of destructive leadership behaviour and how to manage it in quantity surveying practices in South Africa.

Destructive leadership behaviour has a negative effect on co-workers and can hinder the follow of work holding back progress in a fast pace environment. Even with this effect, very little investigation is done on destructive leadership in the construction industry.
Kindly complete the questionnaire. Please note that responses to the questionnaire will be treated with strict confidentiality. The analysis will be undertaken on aggregates and neither individual nor company names will be identified at any stage. By responding, you would be making a major contribution to the improvement of the South African Quantity Surveying practices within the construction industry. Your response will also enhance the reliability of the research findings.

We will be grateful if you could take 20-30 minutes of your time and endeavour to complete the questionnaire by 30 August 2019. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated and if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Natanya Oersen
