Hello:
You are being asked to participate in an online (web-based) survey. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. This research is in affiliation with Keiser University and has been certified by the Keiser University Institutional Review Board. If you have any questions or concerns regarding participants' rights, please contact the IRB Chair at (954) 318-1620 and refer to Protocol #IRB000WC18PP17. If you have further questions about this research project, please contact either the principal investigator Ruth Bedell at e-mail:   [email protected] or the research supervisor Dr. Richard Mendelson at e-mail: [email protected].

Description of the Project:
This is a dissertation research project that explores the relationship between employees' personal characteristics and their exposure to negative behaviors in the workplace. This research is important because it can provide additional information on how employees cope with negative behaviors, which can then be used in the development of intervention programs in the workplace.

Participants Role in the Study:
Participants are asked to complete three assessments anonymously that will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The first two assessments will be completed on this data collection platform, and at the conclusion of the second assessment, participants will be redirected to a different data collection website, in order to complete the third and final assessment.

Risks and Inconvenience:
Physical risks are at most minimal because the study is conducted online in a location at the discretion of the participant. Mental risks are at most minimal as participants may experience minimal mental fatigue from completing the three assessments. Participants may also experience minimal mental discomfort from answering questions regarding negative workplace behaviors. Participants may experience minimal physical discomfort from sitting at their computers for approximately 20 minutes as they complete the study. Social, harm, and danger risks are at most minimal because participants' confidentiality and data will be protected, and participants can use their discretion for when and where to participate in this online study.

Confidentiality:
Personal information such as your name, email address or IP address will not be collected and your identity will remain anonymous.

Voluntary Participation:
You may refuse to participate in this research. Such refusal will not have any negative consequences for you. If you begin to participate in the research, you may at any time, for any reason, discontinue your participation without any negative consequences.

Raffle:
Participants are invited to enter the raffle for a $50 VISA gift card after they have completed both parts of the survey. There will be a drawing for a $50 VISA gift card for every 50 participants, who have completed both parts of the survey. A $100 VISA gift card drawing will happen after more than 250 participants have completed both parts of the survey. Instructions for how to enter the raffle may be found at the end of the first part of the survey.  Participation in the raffle is voluntary. Participants will need to send an email to the principal investigator, disclosing their email address and participant ID number. The raffle drawing will take place when data collection has ended. The winner will be notified by email. Participants' email addresses linking their participant ID numbers will be destroyed/shredded after the principal investigator has verified the participants' completion of both parts of the survey AND after the raffle drawing has taken place.
