11. I would like to share more about my dry eye symptoms (optional) Like what? Well, maybe you have a symptom that wasn't on our list. Or maybe you want to share some interesting, unusual or puzzling specifics about how your dry eye started and progressed. Maybe there is something about your daily or monthly "pattern" of dry eye symptoms that you think is significant. One thing we know for sure is that YOUR SYMPTOM DATA MATTERS and can, among other things, help point the way to research that needs to be done, which is why we're asking you about it.
02/28/2021 | 102555558 | Food and beverage can definitely impact my dry eye symptoms. A higher intake of salty food can increase the severity of symptoms. Switching to organic red wine has produced fewer symptoms than conventional red wine. |
02/28/2021 | 102534910 | I am a tenacious computer user. and my symptoms relate directly to how I use my eyes. I will be most unhappy when I can no longer do the things I enjoy in my life. So I attempt to manage my symptoms and live while I can. I have macular degeneration so I know my time is limited. I wonder if old age or blindness will finish my race. |
02/28/2021 | 102532371 | Perimenopause heading into menopause. Wow . I thought i had dry eyes then came this new phase and weekly corneal erosions appeared. Can only sleep 2 hours at a time. Must wake up to put in drops. Improved with serum tears, purilens to wash out my ointment instead of plain water, humidifiers constantly. |
02/28/2021 | 102520970 | I have not identified a direct correlation with seasonal allergens. One doctor I consulted when my eyes were very bad said I had an allergy to pollens, but I'm not sure he was correct. I definitely notice that symptoms are very bad when the air is dry, but on very humid, rainy days they aren't that much better. My eyes immediately dry out when hit with any movement of air. Between that and sensitivity to light, I can't walk outside without stopping every few steps to close my eyes. |
02/26/2021 | 102386923 | I am new to this, so the seasons are not that meaningful yet. Some days my eyes sting most of time when the lenses are out. That is what affects time of day, not the time of day! |
02/26/2021 | 102366559 | I totally understand this shouldn't be done and will seem very weird, however, in certain situations when clear vision is important and when I am having a bad day, the ONLY way I can "fix" the mucous build-up is to remove my contacts, put them in my mouth and gently rub them with my tongue and then re-insert them with a little saliva. Most often the mucous will disappear for a pretty long time o even the rest of the day. Perhaps a concentration of antihistamines in my saliva after taking an antihistamine tablet? Cannot remember well enough re: taking antihistamines and doing this to know if there is a link. |
02/25/2021 | 102268374 | I'm not confident in my answers regarding the seasons. I mainly answered the questions in terms of when air conditioning or fans might be blowing. I have been recently diagnosed with severe allergies due to environmental issues in my home: extreme dust (vent and duct issues) and mold. The dust is a huge issue for me and my dry eye issues. |
02/25/2021 | 102226919 | I live in Central Texas, the land of every changing weather temperatures and constant humid, hot, sultry weather. It's hot, windy and the allergens start in March and hang out until October. We burn the fireplace in the winter which is a killer and the AC the rest of the year. I have ceiling fans in every room.. the ones that run are in the room I am not, however, it still effects the dryness. |
02/25/2021 | 102193890 | My most difficult challenge is coping with fogging and smearing of the sclera lenses. I can only wear the lenses for three hours max before removal is needed to clean the lenses. |
02/23/2021 | 101903975 | My eyes are worse before my period starts. At that time, I also get migraines, pain on the left side of my neck and generally pain in my left eye. My eye problems presented before my inflammatory bowel disease symptoms by about 8 years. Being on Remicade for Crohn’s has probably helped my eyes to a degree. My eyes felt normal when I was on oral prednisone for 6 months. |
