Dive Bar: Small, usually run-down, typically visited by locals to the area, serve a few simple food items or no food at all

Lounge: quiet, intimate setting, low lighting, quiet music, short, upscale food and drink menu

Sports bar – louder atmosphere with TVs and/or music, pool tables, dart boards, and/or arcade games, limited food menu (likely appetizers and/or pizza and wings), offer a wide selection of liquor and cocktails, with a smaller selection of beer and wine

Pub – usually offer an extensive beer and wine menu, as well as a large food menu (likely more filling meals in addition to appetizers and desserts), family friendly during daytime hours

Large venue bar – louder atmosphere with a large room and stage for concerts and other performances, may have a separate room with a sports bar

Nightclub – loud music with a dance floor, bottle service and reserved “VIP” tables, usually requires a particular dress code, typically do not sell food
