Some post-secondary institutions have moved to a faculty advising system because some studies
have shown that such models can have a positive impact on student success. There have been
many post-secondary schools that have advising systems where advisors are responsible for up to
1200 students a year (Khalil & Williamson, 2014, p. 73-79). Thus, it is possible that advisors
may be overburdened with advisees. Some institutions have decided to either hire more advisors
or move to a faculty based advising system. The purpose of this survey is to gather information
about how MCCCD advisors experience our current advising system. Your honest thoughts and
reflections will be greatly appreciated. Remember that your answers are anonymous and
information collected from the surveys will be presented in the aggregate.
