Big Brothers of Rhode Island

1. Statement of purpose

If you are 18 or older you are invited to participate in a study that will inform a Com470 Persuasive Campaign for the Big Brothers of Rhode Island. Big Brothers of Rhode is a non-profit organization that works with volunteer young adult males and pairs them up with a young boy for a mentorship.
We hope to learn about how interested adult males are in volunteer work. We want to see if males on Bryant University campus would be interested in becoming a mentor for a young boy in Rhode Island. You were selected as a possible participant in this study because you are a male, which makes you applicable for the program.

2. Description, Including Risks and Benefits

If you decide to participate, we will conduct an experiment involving a short survey regarding your interest of volunteering and community service. This will be a single survey administered to each participant, only once. There is no risk involved with filling out the survey.

If any question makes you feel uncomfortable, you do not have to respond to it. Also, you may withdraw from the survey at any time.

3. Confidentiality

Any information obtained in connection with this study will remain confidential and will not be disclosed to the general public in a way that can be traced to you. In any written reports or publications, no participant other than the researchers will be identified, and only anonymous data will be presented.

This consent form, with your signature, will be stored separately and independently from the data collected so that your responses will not be identifiable.

4. Statement that Participation Is Voluntary

Your participation is totally voluntary, and your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your future relations with Bryant University or its employees in any way. If you decide to participate, you are also free to discontinue participation at any time without affecting such relationships. However, it is requested that you notify the investigator of this.
