Challenges central office leaders face have become more complex in this era of standards-based reform and high-stakes accountability. While growing attention has been focused on trying to identify the knowledge and skills that are essential to successful school leadership, Central office leaders seldom have the opportunity to obtain the professional development they need to be effective in their roles.
