Hello, my name is Leane and I am currently studying at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone. As part of my course I have been asked to do a project on a topic of my choice. The topic I have chosen is Female Genital Mutilation. This questionnaire is part of my project and its aim is to help me gain some insight into the public’s views on my chosen topic and FGM in the UK. I would be very grateful if you could spend a few minutes of your time filling in the questionnaire. All results will be confidential and the only personal information I will ask is your age range, gender and profession. |

A brief introduction into FGM.
Female Genital mutilation is also known as female circumcision or cutting. It describes a range of procedures often involving partial or complete removal of the female genitalia. It is carried out for non-medical reasons by untrained traditional practitioners (usually village elders) in non-sterile conditions using crude instruments and is performed without using anaesthetic.
