Loyalty programs require a relationship between you and a business, so that they can recognize your purchases and directly reward you based on those purchases.

In terms of rewards, this could mean anything from special treatment (like being the first to board an airplane, or not waiting in line to be seated at a restaurant) to special offers (like a discount or dollar savings on a purchase).
